[If he knew what she was thinking, he'd comment he's not a science project. There's nothing left to figure out really.
Ren's request has him pause for a little longer then a minute, however. That bat was a weapon regardless of how he was using it now and it really went against the Batter's basic instincts to let go of it. Hence why the Batter was always armed when he went outside. A very, very old habit.
But he does, eventually, hand it over.]
For a minute. Just don't lose it.
[It's actually pretty dented and may be heavier then what Ren's used to. But there it is.]
Trading off is a part of baseball too! They all switched out their positions in the dream at times, though admittedly Ren's favorite part is pitching. And running in the field. And catching the ball as she runs through the field.
So pretty much? Every part of it.
She's more than happy to take the bat from him. The weight is heavier than she expects and it throws her off balance until she figures out how to hold it.
[Yeah, this is going to be awful. But whatever. The Batter still didn't care about small details.
He actually walks a bit farther away from Ren. The Batter was more confident in his swing then his pitch but that doesn't mean he was bad at it. Waiting until Ren was ready, he tosses the rock.
It's a straight shot and pretty fast. So good luck hitting it Ren. And no, he doesn't need to open his second set of eyes for it.]
[The bat is heavy and she's unaccustomed to wielding such an item on its own, let alone mustering up the hand eye coordination necessary to smack a small rock with it.
It doesn't help her eyes are on his face the whole time. The second pair doesn't open-guess he was right.
She makes an attempt to hit the rock and raises the bat about a half a second after it nyooms past her. Incredible.
[Yeah, those aren't part of any rules the Batter knows but they haven't been playing with the rules to begin with so whatever.]
Okay.
[Unfortunately a limit that means he's going to activity try and win. Alpha brings the 'ball' back and the Batter pitches it again, still just as fast.
[It nyoom! It zoom! And then Ren? She goes boom! Through some miracle, the sun shines down and gives the rock a beautiful glow. She manages to focus just long enough to slam into the rock and 'pow'.
Watch out, Batter! She didn't try to aim that sucker away from him.]
[So hey, fun fact: the Batter has pretty good reflexes.
Unfortunately that only applies to things he sees coming. Specters have gotten in potshots by sneaking up on the purifier and in this case, he didn't expect Ren to hit the rock.
And it smacks him dead center in the face.
He doesn't quite go down but he does drop to his knees and slap a hand against his face. Pretty sure his nose is bleeding.
Except for the guilt and concern. She could do without that. Cautiously, she hurries over to his side, bat in hand to finish him off and tries to get a look at his face.]
[Although it probably doesn't sound that way. You talk funny with a broken nose. But with the practiced ease of someone who's broken one to many bones before, the Batter simply pinches the bridge of his nose and tilts his head back to look up at the sky. The purifier's lower left eye opens to look down at Ren.
Multitasking.]
Give me a moment.
[It usually clears up on its own, but he'll use one of his healing skills soon if it doesn't. Not really one to waste CP on it.]
[If there's anything to be gained from breaking his nose, it's knowing that his lower eyes open when his face is bleeding. This is knowledge she can use for the rest of her life. She doesn't try to help beyond the uncomfortable staring she directs his way, as if waiting for her own cue on the matter. Blood doesn't scare her-not like this. Injuries happen when you're wandering around a post-apocalyptic world and she's grown accustomed to seeing it.
[It's still his choice to open them, but whatever helps Ren sleep at night. The Batter doesn't address Ren's offer for a moment before sighing. Normally when it came to breaking his nose, the Batter just let it heal on its own - his CP saved for things like a broken arm or ribs - but it was probably best to get it done now.
Still. It's stupid.]
There's no point.
[The blood doesn't disappear when the Batter casts Save Second Base, but Ren will hear a nasty crack as the bones snap back into place. The purifier is not bothered by this and gives his nose a few experimental prods before closing his lower eye and opening his regular set back up.
[It's not the sound that startles her-she grew up in a lab with tests that made strange noises all their own, but the suddenness of it is what makes her jump, dropping the bat in the process. She didn't expect that. Her thoughts had gone to where she could find excess cloth, a bandage-anything that might temporarily work as one, but it's fine now?
Just like that, it's okay?
Ta-da her ass. She looks completely thrown off by what happened here. Even with all the advancements and technology the doctors had, wounds still took time to heal. How could he just poke his nose, like it's all better? She's skeptical.]
[At best it feels a little sore but that was something he could deal with compared to simply waiting it out again. Back home, he only allowed himself to do so near a Save Block, but there were none here. And this place was safe...for the moment.
And he has a feeling this will lead to more questions but whatever.]
I have the ability to heal injuries.
[And revive the dead, but that doesn't seem to be a Thing in this place.]
[It will lead to 9000 more questions. Some reasonable, some silly. He's already proven himself to be the kind of person that will indulge her with answers and she's going to ask until she runs out of things to wonder about.
And when that's done-when he stops answering questions, she'll return his bat and opt to become the pitcher again. Until he decides the game is over or the sun begins to go down, she'll keep playing. Even if her feet start to hurt or her arms get sore, she's not going to stop.

She holds out one of the rocks Alpha returned to her.]
We can trade. You can try throwing this thing.
[GIVE HER THE BAT]
